Emergency Preparedness


Upon completion of this module, dialysis facility personnel will be able to:
  • recognize actions the facility should take in advance of any emergency event
  • engage in emergency planning, response, and recovery within the facility
  • discuss emergency planning with patients and engage them in developing at-home plans
  • apply the facility's emergency plan for response and recovery during an emergency event
  • identify best practices to prevent safety errors
  • engage patients and families to enhance their culture of safety

Activities Required for Diamond Status/Measures: 

In order to receive Diamond Status, your facility must meet the measures listed below: 
  • 100% of staff complete module pre-test
  • 100% of staff review the Emergency Preparedness in-service training module PowerPoint
  • 100% of staff hold, at a minimum, biennial staff in-servicing on emergency preparedness
  • 90% of patients complete a Patient Preparedness Questionnaire with the assistance of facility staff
  • 100% of staff complete module post-test
  • Complete online Reporting Form
